Moderators: Managing Communities

Last Updated:October 5, 2026

Overview

Community moderators manage a PEGMedia community on behalf of its members. If you are a moderator, you can open your community's Manage page to update its details and look after its members and shows.

This article walks through where to find your communities and what you can do from the Manage page.

Opening the Manage page

  1. Log in to PEGMedia.

  2. In the left menu, select Communities. You will see every community you belong to. Communities you moderate show a Moderator badge.

  3. Select the community you want to manage. Its feed opens.

  4. Select Manage in the top-right corner.

The Manage page has three tabs: Unapproved Shows, Logo, and Members. To go back to the community feed, select the back arrow next to the page title.

Viewing your community's content

Your community's page shows Latest from the Community, with the newest episodes from approved shows. Each episode lists its upload date and download count, and new episodes have a NEW label. Select See More to view the full feed.

Producers can only upload episodes after their show is approved.

Approving shows

When a producer creates a show in your community, it waits for approval before it appears. Shows are never approved automatically.

  1. On the Manage page, select the Unapproved Shows tab. Each show lists its title, producer, and description.

  2. To review a show first, select its title. The details page for the show opens. You can also approve it from the show page by selecting Approve at the top of the page. This approves the show, not individual episodes.

  3. Select Approve. There is no confirmation prompt, so the show is approved right away.

A message confirms the show was approved, and the show leaves the Unapproved Shows list. The producer receives a Show Approved email from noreply@pegmedia.org.

If nothing is waiting, you will see No shows currently waiting on approval. Once a show is approved, its new episodes do not need approval.

Your logo appears on the community card on the Communities page.

  1. On the Manage page, select the Logo tab.

  2. Select Choose a file and pick a JPG or PNG image. A 16:9 ratio is recommended.

Logo tab with a Choose a file area and an Upload Logo button.
  3. Select Upload Logo.

Managing members

The Members tab lists everyone in your community. Use the All, Producers, and Stations filters to narrow the list. Moderators show a Moderator badge. Invitations that have not been accepted yet appear under Pending Invitations.

  1. On the Members tab, enter the person's email address under Invite a member.

  2. Select Add Member.

Adding members in bulk

  1. On the Members tab, select Download template to get a sample CSV file. The file only needs an Email column. Other columns are ignored.

  2. Add one email address per row and save the file. Files can be up to 5 MB.

  3. Select Import CSV, then select Choose File and pick your file.

  4. Select Upload & preview. You will see a summary of what will change before anything is applied.

  5. Review the summary and confirm.

Everyone added by CSV joins as a member. You can make someone a moderator afterward.

Tip: Select Export CSV to download your current member list. You can edit it and upload it again.

Syncing your member list

On the Import page, check Remove members not in this file (sync) to make your community match the file exactly. Members and pending invitations that are not in the file are removed. Moderators and your own account are never removed. You will review the full list before confirming.

Changing a member's role

  1. On the Members tab, select Details next to the person's name.

  2. Under Community role, choose a role:

    • Member can view and download community content.

    • Moderator can manage members, approve shows, and update the community logo.

  3. Select Save role.

The Member details page also shows whether the person is a station, a producer, or both, the date they joined, and their published shows.

Removing a member

  1. On the Members tab, select Remove next to the person's name. You can also select Details, then Remove member in the Danger Zone.

  2. Confirm the removal.

The person loses access to the community's content and tools. You can add them again later.
